Енергопостачання порушено в семи регіонах України та столиці внаслідок масштабної атаки Росії — Міненерго 2

Following a massive Russian shelling of Ukraine’s energy facilities, as of the morning of June 2, some consumers in Kyiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy regions are temporarily without electricity. However, the introduction of power outage schedules for household consumers and industry is not anticipated.

This was reported by the press services of the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo.

The department stated that, in particular, in the capital, the Russian shelling damaged the production site and infrastructure of one of the energy enterprises. Two energy workers were injured and have been taken to the hospital, where they are receiving all necessary assistance.

The Russian army also attacked facilities in the oil and gas sector, resulting in infrastructure damage. No workers were harmed. Rescuers and operational services are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Electricity Consumption in Ukraine

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption has increased. Today, June 2, as of 9:30 AM, it was 8.2% higher than at the same time the previous day – Monday. The reason for the change is cloudy weather and rain in parts of western and southwestern Ukraine. This leads to low efficiency of household solar power stations and a corresponding increase in energy consumption from the general grid.

Yesterday, June 1, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 1.6% higher than the maximum of the previous working day – Friday, May 29. The reason is the traditional increase in energy consumption at the beginning of the week. The company noted that active energy consumption today should ideally be shifted to the period of most efficient operation of industrial solar power stations – from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. They also asked Ukrainians not to turn on several high-power electrical appliances simultaneously in the evening hours – from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

In addition, Ukrenergo emphasized that the situation in the energy system may change and advised to follow the announcements on the websites and official social media pages of each regional energy company separately.
