The Kyiv City State Administration has not yet decided whether to restore the underground pedestrian crossing near the “Lukyanivska” metro station, which was damaged by a Russian attack. The final decision will be made only after an expert examination of the structure.

This is stated in the response of the Department of Transport Infrastructure to the request of Suspilne.

The department explained that a specialized organization must assess the technical condition of the crossing, the nature and extent of the damage. Only after receiving the expert opinion will it be clear whether it is possible to restore the object, how much it will cost, and what the timeline for the work will be.

“Currently, it is not possible to determine the timeline for the work, its estimated cost, or to make final decisions regarding the further organization of pedestrian traffic,” the department noted.

For now, the main task in the Kyiv City State Administration is to arrange a safe surface crossing. For now, it operates as an unregulated crossing, and the installation of a traffic light is being processed in conjunction with the patrol police and other services.

On the night of July 19, the Russian army attacked Kyiv and the region with ballistic missiles. One of them hit an underground crossing on Yuri Illienko Street near the “Lukyanivska” metro station, and the surface lobby of the subway was also damaged.
